Working for Health is a local award scheme for County Durham and Darlington. It encourages employers to protect and promote the health of their employees by creating a healthier workplace and organisation.

Which organisations can participate?
All workplaces, whether large, small, private, public or voluntary sector.
How does my organisation achieve an award?
There are three levels:
At each level a workplace must meet certain criteria, which demonstrates that they are promoting workplace health for their employees.
How can my organisation promote workplace health?
Working for Health provides a structure that you can work to. You will be given assistance and support from a Health Promotion Specialist who will support you in working for the award.

The workplace must have fulfilled the criteria stipulated for the Bronze Award.
The workplace must have fulfilled the criteria for the Bronze and Silver Awards.
The award is a nationally recognised scheme and is administered locally. It was developed by the Health Education Authority and the Department of Health and is endorsed by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
